Laying the Groundwork

At this point, I would say that MBS has been developed to the point that I’m ready to show it to someone else. So, I’m going to start inviting a few friends to join the forums and start helping me make sure I haven’t done anything critically stupid (like give every forum member admin privileges, for example!)

Setting up the various categories and boards was probably the most time consuming process of establishing the initial MBS framework. Figuring out exactly how I wanted to structure it all involved some tricky decisions; the astute observer might notice that Dystopian Wars (DW) has a board category all to itself, while the other categories are broad enough to encompass several games. Why the extra attention for DW? well, the main reason is that anecdotal evidence suggests this is theĀ  most popular naval game out there right now, and thus I anticipate much of the forum posting to (at least initially) revolve around DW.

I should point out though, the board structure as it stands now is only the beginning. I expect that some of the existing categories might be dispensed with, others may be consolidated, and still many more will be added as time goes on. I intend to let that happen organically, though, based on user suggestions.

All Systems Go!

Man Battlestations (MBS) is now online! I still have a bit of work to do before everything is really ready for prime time, though. The forum categories still need sorting, for one thing. Eventually, this blog will be a place to post articles, battle reports, and the like, but for now it is going to be more like a development journal as I slowly get everything in place.
