New member from Adelaide.
« on: September 13, 2016, 10:30:28 pm »
Hi, I found this site through the podcasts, which I've so far enjoyed.

I've been playing miniature wargames off and on since 2001, depending mostly on my funds and the games currently in fashion near me.  Naval wargaming is what drew me to the hobby, but I've only just started playing naval games.  I've been playing x wing and dystopian wars over the last year, but I really want to get into firestorm armada.

Welcome aboard! Glad you found our little corner of the internet, and I'm happy you're enjoying the podcasts.

Plenty of X-Wing and Dystopian Wars players here, and plenty of Firestorm Armada players as well. Feel free to post some pictures of your fleets, talk tactics, complain about poor dice rolls, and regale us with tales of glory won on the tabletop. We have sections of the forum dedicated to all of those topics and more.

Dystopian Wars is what got me into the tabletop wargaming hobby about 5 years ago. What fleets do you run, and which (if any) is your favorite?

Again--welcome!

Thanks very much.  Currently my dystopian fleet consists of the old EoRS starter set, that has yet to see a paintbrush.  Unfortunately it is stagnating while I try and find opponents, but I'm hoping to build an Australian fleet over the next few years.

Welcome! Good to have some more international members on the forums.

Looking at different blogs around the internet, Australia is an interesting place to play wargames. The distance seems to make players really bond together in close knit groups.

I've only been involved in a couple of groups, not having moved around much, but that has been my experience, especially outside of capital cities where gaming still has quite a strong stigma attached.
