I hope it gets made! It sort of reminds me of the set-up in the Dune series, where the key to FTL travel is tied up with big scary animals, mashed with Moby Dick-style whale hunting.

Yes, I can certainly see that. I can also see it as a variation on "Jaws", where the creature is hunting the humans that are hunting it. In those kinds of movies, I generally root for the creature. :)

The trailer was made as a proof-of-concept, from what I understand. It is not based on any other IPs that I'm aware of--no comic books, cartoons, toy lines, etc. The sheer scale of what we saw in the trailer would work well even if the story is flimsy.  Imagine seeing those creatures on the big screen!

Just saw this.  That CGI looks incredible!

I'm with Ruck on this one - it looks kind of like Dune in the air ;)
