What is going to be interesting is the unknown elements that might pop up. GW's specialist game push, will it reach Battlefleet? What might that mean for other Spaceship games? What new games might pop up? I really hope the Star Wars prequel craze that seems to be covering some areas of the internet might mean the release of the CIS vessels and the absolutely gorgeous venators.

Making 2018 predictions! You are a braver man than I. After 2017, everythign seems up in the air.
No mention of a historical game this year. Learned from 2017?

I like your predictions ... the slow pace for Firestorm is depressing, but I'd rather it be right and better than quick.
My tongue-in-cheek predictions for 2018:
1) After introducing a card for "The Holdo Maneuver", all Star Wars Armada Organized Play will be cancelled.
2) A new X-Wing release titled "Luke Skywalker's Ach-To X-Wing" will be released, and packs will appear to be on shelves, but then vanish.
3) Star Fleet Battles will not do anything.
4) Warcradle will playtest a new race for both Dystopian Wars AND Firestorm, called The Grognards. However, these ships will never be seen outside of their offices and all rules and molds will be destroyed in a jubilant ceremony.
5) Stephan and I will swear to play some Babylon 5, but not quite manage it.
6) I will attempt many times to finish a 7 player game of Trek ASCENDANCY, but no one will have the endurance to complete it.

You aren't the first to suggest that, my friend :)
On the topic, I have to ask what you mean by "successfully" Ruckdog, sir. If you mean "actually get products on shelves" then I would agree that is certainly a solid bet for this year ( though as for timing we could run a sweep on that. ) If you meant "a full release including rules and minis on the shelves", I'm kinda skeptical on Warcradle creating a rules set that satisfies both themselves and player by the end of 2018, given how they've taken this long and have yet to work out what the packaging will look like even though they have logos ready to go.
And if you meant "A release that becomes as popular as the old game and even more so in terms of sales" . . . . for a number of reasons, unless they can suddenly appeal to a huge mass of people, I'm certain they will start off down in numbers from Spartan, given the number of disgruntled customers leaving simply because of Warcradle's policies ( And not counting those DW players who threw in the towel utterly )
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Warcradle's success and I have invested heavily in it though not yet monetarily, I'm looking here with as strong sense of realism.
