Ruckdog's Modern Naval Project
« on: July 22, 2021, 11:07:26 am »
Hi all! I've been working on a project to collect and paint modern naval minis for about 2 years now, and I'm finally getting around to writing about it for the site. I'm mostlly going to be posting it on the blog, but I'll be adding updates to this thread as I do ;)

The wakes are nice, and when I saw the deck details on the John Stennis from the gallery, I was blown away.  Great job!
If my wife asks, I only spent half as much as I wanted to...

Thank you! I used a decal from Flight Deck Decals:

I'm a huge fan of their products, and highly recommend them.

Looking very sharp already.

Interested in the scale choice; As you say there are a lot of naval scales, some more use for combined air/sea operations, and you seem to be looking at a good mix here. After all, some games do use a different scale for aircraft than surface forces ( Heavy Gear for one ).

That's what I'll predominantly gaming with them for the foreseeable future. Not ruling out trying them with other game systems, though!

I read the blog and I really liked it.

One thing I struggled with was "who" the enemy were going to be.  I thought of Iranians, Russians, Chinese, etc. Therefore, I was pleased to see your Iranian flotilla!
