Star Wars first pass
« on: February 12, 2021, 04:36:21 pm »
As a New Year's resolution I wanted to finally start working through all of my unpainted ships, and here is the first pass on the first group.

These are 1:25000 scale Venators that are slightly under two inches.

If my wife asks, I only spent half as much as I wanted to...

Nice!  I wonder what system you are going to use these in?

Here is another group of ships, Munificent frigates also at 1:25000.

These are right under an inch and a half.

Thank you, I haven't come anywhere close to figuring how I will actually use these, but I hope to have a good variety painted up for at least displaying on a shelf.

Nice!  I wonder what system you are going to use these in?

I was just thinking the same thing!

However, A Call To Arms may also have an appropriate list available as well.  I am also sure the venerable Full Thrust can handle these ships as well.

Here are some auxiliary ships, Hardcell Transports from Episode 2.

The Munificent is included for scale; at 1:25000 these come in at around a third of an inch.

Here is a group of Acclamator assault ships.

At 1:25000 scale these are right over an inch.

Yeah, I just do not recall them at all.

Granted, it has been a long time since I watched the Prequels and the Clone Wars show.

Only about a dozen ships appear in the Clone Wars animated series, but when you also add in the computer games, X-Wing, Empire at War, Battlefront..., there are another dozen or so ships that technically are also Legends-level canon for the period.

Looking at the user modifications being released for Empire at War specifically, they also introduce about 20 more ships or variants into the Clone Wars that were only described in novels, or pictured in comics, but that were never actually modeled for rendering or released under the license.  Those would be tangentially canon at best, but are great inspiration.

All of those numbers are just looking at the ships that measure at least 500 feet, and at 1:25000 scale the silhouettes of anything smaller really break down.

Looks like someone else is using similar prints for their ABS fleet!

Thank you for the link, he had two ships from the collection that I had not considered yet... back to Wookieepedia for research!

What I did notice is that these are grouped into scale bands, small / medium / large, with consistency within each band but not across the whole range which is why I eventually walked away from Star Wars Armada.  I am trying to true the scale up between each of the ships but realistically length is the only dimension I can keep consistent; height is the dimension I have to exaggerate the most to keep any stability on the stand.
