Medusa WIP
« on: February 06, 2015, 02:33:37 pm »
After languishing in my box of figs, I finally started work on my Medusa Dreadnought for the Aquans.  The first pic is for reference to the paint scheme for the rest of my fleet.

For the Medusa, there's so much detail that I decided to paint it unassembled.  The first step was to primer in Ultramarines Blue and then wash with Guilliam Blue, both from GW.  Once the base is done, I put on a heavy wet-brush of P3 Cygnar blue.  I then go in with white in certain recessed areas to provide a base for the homemade purple wash that will come next.

Looking good so far! The purplish glow effects are particularly nice.

Can't wait to see the finished product, although I CAN wait to face it on the table.  ???

Stephan, that last picture looks like something out of a '50s horror movie. With different lighting, it could be some creature coming up from the lagoon or something.

Drybrushed with a P3 Arctic Blue and then painted the engine crystals in white.  Also started on the beam emitter crystals in white.  I need to go over all the crystals in white and then will hit them with a light top-coat of pearlescent white.

It's already looking really nice! That as it is looks like it would make a pretty decent proxy for an Eldar Spire too.
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

Looks great, Stephan, really like what you're doing with that fleet. Awesome choice of colors.

Here's the latest updates.  I'm still working on the tentacles and will add those last.  I also need to do some touch-ups here and there, but you can see how she's coming along.

At least we don't consort with filthy xenos. Oh wait...you ARE filthy xenos! Die, filthy xenos!

(Since the RSN are a bunch of religious zealots, I just assume that they are also vehement racists [in the true sense of the word "racist"]).

That fits my conception of them as well! Good luck to them if they come up against this Aquan Space-Kraken, though ;).
