Space Naval Games / A rant.
« on: May 04, 2012, 09:05:38 am »
So my local Games Workshop gets into Battlefleet Gothic after a demonstration game. I among others buy the rule book, and a fleet. My fleet is now at 2000 points (with Admiral upgrades and re-rolls). Do you think I can get a game? Hecks to the no. I spend the money on the ships and the rules, and the order dice, spend all the time painting each ship, taking second place in a painting comp with one of them, and no one wants to play!

That said, from what I understand a campaign will be kicking off in July. Hopefully by then I will have been able to get some more games under my belt.

That looks great.  I have successfully resisted Dystopian Wars models thus far, being a member here and seeing models like this may make it some what harder.

I like this a lot the dark tones fit right in with my idea (and actual) steam ships. The only criticism I can see is that the decking looks a bit plastic (not being sure how to paint wood decks I can't really give any tips tho :/). I'm pretty sure Im going to be picking up some FSA models after I get back from vacation in may and this is great inspiration!
Look at Ruckdog's Prussian aircraft carrier in this same forum, his wood decks look great

Looking good! I like your color combo on the Armageddon; the blue and white colors on the prow work very well with the brown colors you used on the hull. I also like how the upside-down weapons batteries on the battle cruiser look; it gives the ship a beefier appearance.
Wait... They're upside down... Oh man  :P

Here are some more shots of the Apocalypse and the Armageddon, much closer to being finished...

Oooohhh... Do the Firestorms and Dauntless in the same brown/yellow as the Armageddon, and you get 3 fleets whittled down and merged into one. Plus the torpedo Dauntless has a different colored prow makes it a lone survivor of a separate squadron...

Andrew, you are a genius.

This is my total fleet to date:

What needs to be painted so far are the Apocalypse Class Battleship and the Armageddon Class Battle-cruiser.

As it sits my fleet consists of 3 Sword Class escorts, a Dauntless Class (Torpedo) Light Cruiser, A Lunar Class Cruiser, A Dictator Class Cruiser, A Dominator Class Cruiser, The Armageddon Class Battle-cruiser, and the Apocalypse Class Battleship.

Pending additions to the fleet are 3 Firestorm Class Escorts, and a Dauntless Class (Lance) Light Cruiser. Pending means I am ordering them Friday...:)

I am thinking that this fleet may be made up of bits and bobs of survivors from different sectors that have fallen to Chaos and have been assigned to this fleet, hence the different paint schemes.

Have a blast, and let us know all the cool stuff coming up. And Mr. Ruckdog you may fire when ready... (ending with famous naval quotes seemed like what we were doing)
