Got the lot painted by the end of last month. Today was the first time I had decent light and at home at the right time to get some photos done. Enjoy.

RSN Dreadnought: The Hammer

Bright yellow bit on the back lower fin is a bit of paper that somehow managed to get itself there?

Carrier: The Hive

Destroyers:  Squad Giza

Escorts: Squad keeper

The fleet, fully painted and finished.....for now.

Sorry for pic heavy if it kills anyones connection.

Thats the shop, yes.  ;D

Ah, it was!, lol . Tried to get some stuff from them as well. But they were a bit iffy, not rude, just uncertain and generally don't  post to the UK for some reason. They never got back to me in regards to special delivery etc. Oh well, not so important now I guess.

As WA said, looking forward to your progress.

Nice, they certainly have the rock cammo. Are those frigates and cruisers? Interesting point(for me) with the direction of the 'hottest' part of the engine glow at the outer side going inwards to coolest in the first two pics. I would, by default, have the glow from the center of the ship outwards without even thinking of it.

Don't know why but that's really caught my eye.  ;D

Thanks very much,  :)

@WestAustralian, cheers, the joys of blue stuff instant mold making. Heat it up, squash it around the part you want to copy, leave it set for tops 10 minutes, fill it with a modeling putty, leave for 24hrs and pop extra bits. Will attempt at making defense platforms and (hopefully) full blown space stations using this.
Painting wise, my secret(not so secret method) is a fine circular motion dry brush, carefully building up to edge highlight, then a direct wet detail brush highlight to parts of the edges using the same colour. Unless you mean the actual light from the over head lamp?  my brain is a bit frazzled this morning.

More is certainly one the way, struggling with painting the Dread at the moment though. I think with this colour scheme the larger the model the harder it becomes to keep it slightly uniform. Works well when scaling  downwards in ship size. I think I'm on top of it now. Was close to respraying it and starting over. I can of course use the work around of some ships are older/newer that others and had more battle action that others. Which is perfectly reasonable. Because I had stopped for as long as I did between the bulk of the fleet and the remainder, there is, as far as my eye can pick up on, differences between them.

Might be throwing me off as its lacking any detailed painting like the red parts and gun metal areas, decals etc. Should have it finished by the end of the day.

Meh, I'm just looking forward to having a entire army painted in its entirety. I have 40k stuff as well and lets just say it got out of hand and I have a ocean of part and unpainted plastics. lol.

@QuickDraw, thank you for remembering  :),  the former SG forum appears to be back up at least in a read only function.

Thanks for looking, commenting. :)

Loving the camo theme with the Veydreth, can picture them powered down, just floating amongst the asteroids waiting for an ambush.

Not sure on your reason for not using the perspex bits, but always stood out to me as a bit flat. On one hand you have this detailed station, and the other a flat featureless support strut, beam thing. Seemed a bit odd. The station certainly works without it.

Hmmm, could of it been you that snatched that Sorylian box before me. Seen a Bastion set on a site based in Germany,  went to get them and they were gone!! within the last two weeks ago.

Looking forward to seeing them all made and painted.

Bring out the big guns!

A little extra Point defense, there's two extra turrets on the bottom as well.

Thanks very much all for the kind comments.

@WestAustralian, no flash on. I try to avoid using the flash in general but more so when using it for hobby stuff. Used natural light coming in through the window. Had to play around with the curtains to get the right amount of light, wasnt a bright day but the camera was really picking up the tones and making it look waaay to white.

Getting there with the piants, made eaiser having some already. I did have a look for it on my pc as I'm sure I saved it on a document but apparently not. However I did find the paints and process used from the guy that painted SG's 'The Syndicate' fleet used on thier boxes. So expect to see that over the course of this WIP.

Paint testing aside I managed to get the Dreadnought fitted with some upgrades last night. Other than the "slightly small" size (when compared to other races Dreads)of the RSN Dreadnought, the obvious lack of visible primary guns always bugged me. So fixed that. :)

A continuation of my wips in a new home. Like others just going to combine all FSA stuff under the one thread, and with the announcement a month ago I have a good stack of stuff to get through.

Stopped working on my RSN fleet last year so its about time I finish it, which is almost completely done (well, as far as a sensible collection goes anyways) and painted.

Need to figure out what paint combo I used, I know the base is Averland sunset but from there I'm going to need to go back through the yellows I have to find the right mix. May of saved it to a PC doc(fingers crossed) but lucky enough  I still have some of the main paint in a squeeze bottle to matching the different combo should't be to hard.

Anyways, who reads this waffle  ;D, lets get to the toy spaceships.

Fleet as it stands painted.

Battleship with Heavy Cruiser escort

Heavy cruisers

Cruisers

Frigates and escorts

and whats up next.

Few additions to the Dreadnought, going to give some visible guns and point defense turrets. Which should have fully cured by now(made from greenstuff)

Also have a Terran fleet which is a fair bit along, but will post that when finished painting this lot.

Roll Call / Another FSA fleet Admiral reporting in from the SG domain.
« on: September 16, 2017, 08:37:10 am »
Hello all, hope you are all well.

My return to Firestorm Armada couldn't be at a worse time, I was over on the SG community forum but have't posted in a while(this time last year) Was progressing though my RSN fleet and still am due to not having painted in a while(a warm sunset yellow with dark red scheme if anyone recalls). Luckly I have what I wanted from that range.

Been collecting FSA stuff from way back when the first starter boxes were out, bought the first version Terran fleet. Which has since expanded.

Hoping to make a new space port here on this community. Will be heading down to the shipyard later to open project thread with the older stuff I have (just to start a fresh and share).

Due to SG closing I've been snapping up a few different fleets while I can for now, in case the product never returns.

Game community wise, I live in south wales UK. The FSA action where I live is pretty much non existent other then the odd game with a friend and the missus(hopefully soon, my kids as well). Not that I've let that stop me collecting.

Well, thats my bit for now, any questions feel free to ask. :)
