Here's my work on rationalizing a sky fortress. Deck on top, Phaugh!

Not totally sold on it, but it is definitely inventive. Would it work to spin the blimp around so that the cockpit is on top? I think you'd still be able to mount the flight underneath.
-
I tried that, didn't like it. I have the sea carrier, so this is an experiment.
-
Well, it's pretty unique either way. Too bad Spartan doesn't carry extra fins or wings in their parts store--I think the flight deck portion could use a pair of stabilizers.
-
Very cool conversion!

Hmmm, you could add a reinforced prow/ram to the carrier deck section, then it could fly low level and plow into stuff!
In fact, instead of SAS it could carry small tanks or something, drop them off somewhere convenient for you, less convenient for your opponent.

Looks good

Mostly this is because I can't get my mind around a deck on TOP of a blimp. I refuse to use something that would flip in a stiff wind. Fins/rotors is a maybe... hmmmm.

I remember having this conversation with you a few years ago! I like the conversion idea, though it seems like it will need some more supports between the envelope and the flight deck now. You might want to also add some sort of "cabling" or "piping" since the smoke stack (and, presumably, the boilers) are also located in the flight deck section.

Like most anything that is sci-fi, fantasy, or gaming related.... If you start asking questions or bringing reality into it, the whole thing starts to unravel. Just let it be, man. Let it be. :D

Nah, Too stubborn and opinionated for that. And it's my blimp, it will bend to MY will!!!!
