Count me in again.
I love me Chaos, but I also love other fleets. How about I fill in as needed?
-
Roger! I think that will work. If we don't get any other Chaos players, then I would probably prefer that you run them again so that we have an IN vs. Chaos core to the proceedings ;).
-
I have an imperial or space marines or eldar
-
Awesome! Welcome aboard. Do you have a preferred fleet? Keep in mind, if you play the Eldar you will be operating as a Pirate fleet (per the BFG campaign rules).
-
arrrr an Elder pirate I be
-
Excellent! I've updated your entry above.
I will be pushing out some adverts to attract attention to this run of the campaign, probably early next week. Around next Friday, I think we can get everything off the ground!
-
I'd like to join in playing Orks.
-
im around this sunday if any one wants to get a game in
-
I'm not around this weekend but next week I'd be interested in trying BFG out on Vassal.
-
I'd like to join in playing Orks.
Welcome! The list has been updated!
-
Hi I saw your post on the battle fleet gothic facebook game. I'm very interested in playing this campaign I've not yet got vassal or ever used it so some help would be required to set me up to join in. If this is ok I would like to run either of the Eldar or Dark Angels space marines. Look forward to hearing from you all soon
-
Welcome aboard! We will be happy to help you with Vassal.
-
Which race would you like me to play and what's the points limits etc
-
The choice of faction is really up to you. We do have one Eldar player already, if that makes any difference to you! Your fleet list will need to be 1500 if you go with Eldar, or 2000 if you choose SM. Keep in mind, this is only the starting value and you will have the chance to expand your fleet with reinforcements every game you play! I'll also be sending you the organizational message I sent to the other participants earlier by PM.

I'll take the spacemarines and I'll have a look at the two thousand points list tonight

Awesome! I've updated the first post.

I'd recommend the BFG:XR Fleets of the Adeptus Astartes codex if you want to build a larger scale fleet. Space Marines suffered in the original game for having 5 ships with effectively 0 options, and from the fact that strike cruisers weren't very good. The BFG:XR rules use the lore concept that Strike Cruiser and Battle Barge are actually terms used to describe a wide array of vessels of similar displacement utilized by the chapters. As such a Strike Cruiser has a few alternative builds you can choose from when you construct it, allowing you to carry torpedoes instead of thunderhawks for example. Also it has the rules for Thunderhawk Annihilators, bomber variants introduced in Into the Warp, and the Battlebarge variants incorporated as well.
So again the majority of the fleet list is identical, just with all the options which were introduced over time. The only real change is that you can take a second shield for strike cruisers for 15 points, which makes them a very viable ship.

There are also some SM lists for various chapters in the rules repository if you would rather use those as counts-as Dark Angels. I faced a Grey Knights fleet at Adepticon that was no Joke!
-
Where's the rules repository?
-
What is the groups thinking of the space marines being able to take a IN vessel paying an extra 35 points for space marine crew?? This also converts the launch bays on the IN vessels to carry thunderhawks at half the rate rounded up so for example a ship that would normally launch five fighter/ bombers would instead launch three stands of thunderhawks
-
That's a "Venerable Battlebarge", its perfectly fine given the restrictions. You'll only ever have 1 of them and the launch capacity is reduced a bit. In my book at least thats no mpre broken than any other battleship. You can use Chaos ships as well as the base for such a ship.

Where's the rules repository?
It's a public google drive. Here is the link:

I'll also add it to the Rules thread in case others need to find it later.

Personally I think the 2010 FAQ SM fleets are more than sufficient for the fleet. Plenty of variety and still limited, exactly as they should be. The shield upgrade is there as well; it's not just the province of BFG:XRABFfdfvbc... lol
-
I have uploaded my fleet hopefully it's all good
-
Organize those escorts into squadrons and you'll be set!
-
Ok so I've installed the vassal client and the bfg module will have a play around with it and get familiar with it prior to the competitive start to the campaign. With regards to the escorts into squadrons can I keep them seperate and Squadron up if required? Or do they need to be Squadron set up before the game begins?
-
No. Consider your overall list as a single big 2000 point army list. With that, you do need to have all escorts in squadrons of 2-6. You'll have to reroll the leaderships on a per-squadron basis then.
The only time you can change up squadrons per game is for capital ships.
-
I might keep the ships as is but travel in a trio and have a hunter solo to be a reactionary ship then
-
Unfortunately you can't have any solos either. If you take a single escort in your entire fleet for a game then that's possible, but if you ever take more than one then they must be grouped into a squadron, no options.
-
Hi fellow admirals,
Just joined the forum after seeing the link on FB. Was wondering if there was a possibility of joining the campaign? I have been a big BFG player for years now but never given vassal a go so am keen to try.
I'm typically an Imp player but I can see there's a few less chaos so would be happy to play the ruinous powers.
I understand I may be a little late so if I can't join this one I would keen to give the next one a go.
Thanks all.
-
Welcome! You are by no means too late. I'll be sending you a few PMs regarding the set-up process.
-
Great, thanks Ruckdog.
Just seen the PMs so will have a read through all that and get together a list for you.
Thanks
