Not to totally high-jack this thread but do you use, or have played the Avalanche Press series of boardgames to use as a campaign driver to getting battles and ships on the table?

I have a older version of the North Sea, and wonder if upgrading to Jutland would be worth it.

I went for legions as well, but Dropzone would be my 2nd choice.  40K and the others are covered ad nauseum in other podcasts and forums.  Have you also thought about naval board games?

Those look really good, and would have given the QE's a run for their money.  I have always wanted to do a late war Jutland style game.  But have never gotten to it.

I started before the time.  We as a group of friends would decide on a period, or game, and then order what miniatures we needed.  For Naval that might be the BC action at Jutland, Russo Japanese war,  Etc..  No need for these things.

More time to paint, have 19th century italians, and more 18th century AoS to paint, and to play with opponents other than myself.  /Jeff

I have backed this, and will be waiting (un)patiently for it to arrive.  Also War Artisan has some paper ships from that era in 1:600 as well.

H2O or Space.   :D

But I think Naval/Space games need to have the concept of a constructed construct in combat with another constructed construct, either in the maritime or space domains.  This eliminates tank to tank combat, or aviation.  The sentient entities inside or controlling these constructs use weapon systems, and maneuver to damage, disable, or destroy the other construct, not the sentient entities inside or controlling the enemy construct.  /Jeff

I think I tend to believe that EW or Cyber warfare in space games or others is best just done as part of the Hit mechanic.  Now maybe in the specific genre or game you can give benefits to hit or not if that function is not a good capability of faction.  But I think you can also have more development of non-kinetic weapons in space games as well.  Which would give you some interesting design space.

I voted for other, since I think your podcasts are better when you expand out of your comfort zone. (Star Wars, Dystopian Wars, etc)  Interviews and reviews with other folks to expand the depth of the podcast.

Historical rule sets, WWI, Fighting Sail, and even WWII  are many and maybe a focus on those areas could be useful.
