A continuation of my wips in a new home. Like others just going to combine all FSA stuff under the one thread, and with the announcement a month ago I have a good stack of stuff to get through.
Stopped working on my RSN fleet last year so its about time I finish it, which is almost completely done (well, as far as a sensible collection goes anyways) and painted.
Need to figure out what paint combo I used, I know the base is Averland sunset but from there I'm going to need to go back through the yellows I have to find the right mix. May of saved it to a PC doc(fingers crossed) but lucky enough I still have some of the main paint in a squeeze bottle to matching the different combo should't be to hard.
Anyways, who reads this waffle ;D, lets get to the toy spaceships.
Fleet as it stands painted.

Few additions to the Dreadnought, going to give some visible guns and point defense turrets. Which should have fully cured by now(made from greenstuff)
Also have a Terran fleet which is a fair bit along, but will post that when finished painting this lot.

Looks great! I'm impressed by your engine glows; it feels like I need a pair of shades to looks at them 8)
-
Good looking fleet
Engine really burns!
-
Fantastic looking stuff - nice vibrant colour scheme well executed. The decals and other little details on the battleship are a really nice touch.
-
Excellent Brushwork and Presentation there.
That's a great looking fleet. Camera flash lights up the engines nicely
Good luck on re-discovering your colours, I know how hard it can be.
I try to keep a document with all my colours used, listed in it.
But sometimes things slip through the cracks
Thanks for sharing and I look forward to the updates

Thanks very much all for the kind comments.
@WestAustralian, no flash on. I try to avoid using the flash in general but more so when using it for hobby stuff. Used natural light coming in through the window. Had to play around with the curtains to get the right amount of light, wasnt a bright day but the camera was really picking up the tones and making it look waaay to white.
Getting there with the piants, made eaiser having some already. I did have a look for it on my pc as I'm sure I saved it on a document but apparently not. However I did find the paints and process used from the guy that painted SG's 'The Syndicate' fleet used on thier boxes. So expect to see that over the course of this WIP.
Paint testing aside I managed to get the Dreadnought fitted with some upgrades last night. Other than the "slightly small" size (when compared to other races Dreads)of the RSN Dreadnought, the obvious lack of visible primary guns always bugged me. So fixed that. :)

A little extra Point defense, there's two extra turrets on the bottom as well.

Nice addition on the dread. :)
And a really beautiful fleet, very good work on the paint scheme. I like the glowing engines.
-
Excellent work on the Custom guns, they look great
Fabulous Painting as always
You have done great with the natural lighting, I always struggle with lighting
I look forward to more

There are those great looking yellow RSN I remember from the Spartan forum.
The additions to the dreadnaught look really awesome. Nice work.

Thanks very much, :)
@WestAustralian, cheers, the joys of blue stuff instant mold making. Heat it up, squash it around the part you want to copy, leave it set for tops 10 minutes, fill it with a modeling putty, leave for 24hrs and pop extra bits. Will attempt at making defense platforms and (hopefully) full blown space stations using this.
Painting wise, my secret(not so secret method) is a fine circular motion dry brush, carefully building up to edge highlight, then a direct wet detail brush highlight to parts of the edges using the same colour. Unless you mean the actual light from the over head lamp? my brain is a bit frazzled this morning.
More is certainly one the way, struggling with painting the Dread at the moment though. I think with this colour scheme the larger the model the harder it becomes to keep it slightly uniform. Works well when scaling downwards in ship size. I think I'm on top of it now. Was close to respraying it and starting over. I can of course use the work around of some ships are older/newer that others and had more battle action that others. Which is perfectly reasonable. Because I had stopped for as long as I did between the bulk of the fleet and the remainder, there is, as far as my eye can pick up on, differences between them.
Might be throwing me off as its lacking any detailed painting like the red parts and gun metal areas, decals etc. Should have it finished by the end of the day.
Meh, I'm just looking forward to having a entire army painted in its entirety. I have 40k stuff as well and lets just say it got out of hand and I have a ocean of part and unpainted plastics. lol.
@QuickDraw, thank you for remembering :), the former SG forum appears to be back up at least in a read only function.
Thanks for looking, commenting. :)

Got the lot painted by the end of last month. Today was the first time I had decent light and at home at the right time to get some photos done. Enjoy.

Do you recall what you made your blue stuff molds from? Maybe the big guns were from another RSN unit? PD turrets?

Late to this party, but those are magnificent in the painting, detailing and those custom guns are fine additions and very well done! A fleet to be proud of, for certain!
