I asked my local game store about bulk d6s today, and I got asked "what colour?" So I was wondering if anyone had tried using the colour scheme from the manual, and if it made life any easier?

You mean using red, blue, and black dice? I often use different color Dice for different to-hit numbers, so I think going with the colors from the rules should work fine.
