Greetings! This month's poll is asking which era of history you like best for historical gaming and/or study. Please select one of the options above, and leave us a comment on why you chose that particular era. Thanks!

I was very tempted to say Ancients (see galley fights in BEN HUR and 300:RISE OF AN EMPIRE).
Or Future Historical (see Honor Harrington).
But none of that really means Pirates, or what made MAN O' WAR great (namely sailing mechanics). So even though I don't play a regular game for it, I'll say AGE OF SAIL.
Now when do we get UNCHARTED SEAS back?

Gotta go with WW2. Ever since I was a kid, flipping through the Time Life series on the Pacific Theater, that period has fascinated me.
Close runner-up would be Age of Sail, simply because it never ceases to amaze me that men could build ships like that, sail them without sinking or foundering, navigate them without getting lost, and use them to (for the period) fight effectively against other ships, and all of this even before the Industrial Age, let alone the Information Age.

I just like spaceships too much 8)

Pre-dreadnoughts. No aircraft or submarines to complicate things and no worrying about having the weather gauge or not so the sweet spot between the age of sail and the Great War.
It was a tossup between this and the slightly earlier ACW, the two rather blur together for me, being a time of constant change with tactics tending to run behind technical changes trying to catch up with them with things settling down a bit at the end of the period.
Also who cannot love those crazy looking French ships with the massively exaggerated tumblehome.

I choose world ward 2 as like ships! didnt see scifi space ship option until afterwards thought. ^^

just because its been drawing my interest of late , mix of ship to ship but few planes /subs no missiles and I kind of like the look of the ships

I have always liked the history of the civil war and the inventions that came from it. Also it falls in really close to the steampunk style of games. Though I like the age of sail ships do to what it takes to really sail one and the hardships that came with it, no real technology. I will have to admit thst i have not ever been on more than a small boat, bass boat, thou i have toured the U.S.S. Texas and the seen the older woid ship that was down in Galveston,Tx. And i like the idea of the old viking longships.
