FSA Sorylians/Terran Fleet Finished!
« on: February 08, 2014, 07:53:02 pm »
Hey everyone, I just finished my Alliance of Kurak fleet today!  I play my first games of FSA tomorrow, so I rushed these out (I hate playing with unpainted anything).  I'll be posting about the games tomorrow or this week, as well.  But here are the models:

I took quite a few pictures and threw them on the blog.

Looking good there! I like the orange on the Sorylians, what inspired the change on the station's colors?
I don't make the rules, I just think them up and write them down.

@  Ruckdog - Hey thanks!  I LOVE how easy it is to paint these.  It's so hard to paint anything 28mm scale now, in comparison my Spartan Games stuff I can get most of a fleet done in a single day...  As for the scheme, thanks - I just can't stay away from greys and blues (turquoise in this instance).

@  Andrew - Thanks!  So, originally I painted up just the six frigates from the original starter box, in the orange and white scheme you can see (UT colors, I'm sure you understand).  And I just wasn't happy with the white, so I wanted to do something different and striking for the station.  I rationalized that a battlestation wouldn't be attached to this patrol/battle fleet, rather the fleet would come in system near the battlestation.  So it has its own color scheme - GW's Sybarite Green over Averland Sunset, mostly - but the orange and grey to tie it in.  In the end, it didn't take that long too paint - mostly drying time!

I had my first game today of FSA, and we tied!  It was a fun 800 point match with a local veteran player (and Beta tester).  Pictures are up on my blog, but I've attached a few here, too - I think.

Major M, the ships look great!  I've always liked the look of the Sorylian vessels--they remind me of the UNSC ships in the Halo video games.

Thanks!  I work at a school up here, and in some after school activities some of the kids have figured out I play FS:A, etc., and when I showed them which models I have (Sorylian) they got really excited for that reason - Halo.  So you're not alone!  For me it's been too long since I played any Halo-anything, and I can't remember what the ships look like.

There are a lot more pictures on my blog, too, at higher resolution, if you're interested!

UT... I think Ive heard of that lol (not that Im a fan, but everyone else around here seems to be). I saw that report pop up in the war thread, from the sound of what you guys had left it could have gone either way all the way to the end. Zak seemed like a really good guy in the beta, though I didn't get a chance to play with him that I can recall, he had a lot of good ideas and feedback.

Here's a link to the Halo wiki page for UNSC frigates... They don't look exactly like the Sorylians, but there are a lot of similarities.
