Sizes of Ships? In millimeters if at all possible
« on: October 25, 2021, 07:48:13 pm »
I'm sketching out 2d paper ships to play with, so I'd like to come close to typical unit sizes. Can anyone give me the length of the naval ships they have in millimeters? Preferably one-or-more of every size class, small to massive. Dimensions of armour and aircraft bases would also be very welcome - particularly bases, but model size would be fine too.

I've already created a Chinese Federation destroyer of 53mm scaled length - does this length seem about right, or too big, too small?

53mm for a destroyer is in the ballpark. I only have a handful of WC's new Enlightened models right at hand, but their frigate comes out to about 47mm, the cruiser to 100mm, and the BB to 140mm. if anything, the WC models tend to be slightly shorter and wider than their legacy Spartan counterparts.

By the sounds of it then, my rough scales have been on the money. I saw your video on the matter, and my currently-88mm long cruiser seems to fit into the realm of reason as well; thank you for the help with boats :)

Next, then; what's the base size of a single SAW token? I've heard 20x20mm.

 Can't say for the new SRS token, which look about 20mm diameter, but the old SAW tokens are 20mmx20mm, while the tokens for small Support Boats ( Like Tyr or such ) are closer to 23mmx23mm.

The new SRS tokens are 42-ish MM in diameter (quite a bit larger than the old ones).

From 20mm to 42mm, damn that's a big change!
I had a friend measure a couple of the airborne bases, for larges and for smalls/tinies;

The Small bases are 25mm squares (smallest ships pictured below)
The Large bases are 50x100mm rectangles (biggest ship pictured)
I estimate that the Medium bases are 40mm squares, but then I only base this assumption from guessing at other peoples' photos.
courtesy of Melchior on the Spartan forum archive; what are the airships adjacent the big boy mounted on?
