Ruckdog's Finished Prussians
« on: January 08, 2015, 10:17:32 am »
As I complete my new Prussian reinforcements, I figured I would post the results here. The first one up is my recently finished battle cruiser, the SMS Von Der Tann, BC-24:

Looking great, as always. I need to pick up the FSA battlecruiser...

Dig the red/rust color on the turret tops.

Thanks! My Prussians are using a scheme based off the Spartan studio scheme and the historical WWII-era "Baltic" cammo that German ships used. The red turret-tops were an aerial identification feature; different ships could use different colors, including yellow and dark grey. Here is a picture of the DKM Scharnhorst with red turret tops that shows an example of what I am referring to:

I guess you could say that they're "Carrot Tops".  Or something along the lines of the SMS Ginger Gneisenau.

Just got the rest of the Prussians I was working on finished. Here is the group shot, which includes the first BC I finished earlier:

I'm especially happy with how my Sturmbringer sub came out:

Here are the support cruisers:

Thanks for the praise, guys!

@Landlubber: The water effects weren't too hard to paint, but it is a bit hard to describe without pictures. I'll see what I can do about putting a tutorial together ;).
