1/76 Insect class gunboat
« on: December 25, 2012, 07:55:33 pm »
Britannia's Insect class finally finished.  For our 20mm coastal naval games.  I have managed to lose the shields for the 20mm's and the original lewis guns, but it'll do.  Can't wait to try it out against my mates S-boats.  Though I am known between my friends to have a bad case of new toy syndrome, ie anything new I have gets taken out in the first round, so most likely the first hit on this will be straight into the magazine. :-\

Looks great!  I've been painting some 1/72 scale figures lately (18th century French sailors and marines, actually, but for gaming skirmish actions ashore), but a boat at that scale is something I almost can't imagine doing myself.  Where do you play games with ship models this big?  I would love to see some pictures added of this ship "in action" in a game setting.

Thanks fellas

We used to have downstairs at my mates place where we could could set up a large table.  Since he's moved, neither of us has the space really.
Generally we use MTB's, S-boats, PT boats and the like.   The largest so far is my mates flower class corvette, though he does have a gato class and u-boat to build.

Very cool! You should build an R/C version next ;). I've built a 1/144 combat model before, and its not too hard.

Wow...very nice.  Could you post some pics sometime of one of your naval battles at this scale?  That would be quite a sight!

Sure thing.  I don't now when we will have another battle.  Hopefully some time soon.  Will have to dust of my MTBs and actually make a start on build my SGB.
