Title: Custom cut, or cutting my own acrylic
Post by: Quickdraw on October 29, 2014, 09:40:24 am
I thought I would see if anyone has any advice or resources for my above question.
First, I'm specifically wondering if anyone has dealt with purchasing and cutting their own special pieces of acrylic. (Where, how, how difficult, tricks)
Second, if anyone has dealt with any companies that will cut and ship custom pieces of acrylic. (Which companies, how much $)

Thanks in advance!

Well, it depends on what you are looking for and in what quantity. From my experience, acrylic is most easily cut using a laser cutter. Those machines are expenseive, but there are plenty of companies out there with them willing to do custom orders. I've had good luck with Litko Aerosystems:

If you contact them, they can probably make you just about anyting you need.

Red Vectors, the guy who makes SAW tray in clear acrylic, and other miniature models, will likely be interested.

Thank you for the advice. The pieces I need are relatively small and I definitely only need one or two sets.
I did some Google searches and found more or less the same types of resources, just different companies.
