FSA 3.0 Beta Mega-thread
« on: August 12, 2020, 02:06:02 pm »
Thought that it might be a good idea to kick off a thread for the upcoming FSA 3.0 beta! I'll try to keep this first post updated as new announcements come down the line. Here is what we know so far:

8/12/20: Warcradle Diary 32 Posted (https://blog.warcradle.com/blog/2020/warcradle-studios-diary-32)
-FSA beta will commence on 9 Sep 20
-The FSA beta will be modeled after the DW beta, which WC considers to be "wildly successful" (per comments on FB)
-The beta will be focused on the core mechanics of the game, though some faction-specific characteristics will also be included (per comments on FB)

9/9/20: Beta rules have launched! https://www.firestormarmada.com/

First post updated! I've given them a few read-throughs, and I have to say I think this version of the game has some potential. I can't really say for sure until I get a chance to try them out though!

In case you missed the Q&A section that Stuart and Chris held on Sunday, it was announced that the update schedule for the beta would aim for new revisions to come out on Wednesday.  The 0.02 update is now available at http://www.firestormarmada.com.

Some highlights (but not a comprehensive list) of changes:

Units that contain more than one model always have the same speed
Some weapons may be able to fire into multiple arcs in the same activation (ie, PT & ST)
"Come to New Heading" clarified to be a 60 degree change in heading.
SRS changes.
Movement changes.
Other stuff...check out the update.  :)

 Andhere's Update 0.04 -

Update 0.04 of the Firestorm Beta is now LIVE!  https://www.firestormarmada.com/
A few Special Rules have been tweaked.
Armada building is clarified (though the full list building will have to wait until we move beyond the core mechanics testing).
SRS have been made to operate at a slightly shorter range to their carriers (still thousands of kilometres in scale terms) and their Attack potency has been reduced by 25%.
System Damage result modifiers do not stack.
Catastrophic Damage is caused by multiples of any System Damage, not just the same type.
Models with a Mass of 1 (Frigates, Destroyers etc) are now destroyed if they would suffer System Damage.
Blasts and Scatter now made less accurate against comparatively smaller targets.
Players now resolve each Step of the End Phase alternately.
Ablative Armour has been made less of a moonfaced assassin of joy.

IMPORTANT: Feedback must be given through the link below. Comments here are not taken into account as feedback. There are many more people taking part in the Beta than post on the Black Ocean so conversations here are only reflective of the experiences and opinions of people who post here. Really, the Black Ocean (and other forums) are excellent for constructive and friendly discussions. But to give feedback, post it into the portal please!  https://www.firestormarmada.com/
