Full Thrust
« on: January 24, 2016, 07:59:42 pm »
Wanted to see if anyone plays/played.  Some questions:

Use the Project Continuum rules?
Favorite cannon faction?
Favorite miniatures?
What miniatures you've got?
Do you use rules for other miniatures?

It's been almost 20 years since I've played.

Same here.  I do like the simple rules and quick play.  Would be fun to have everyone grab some of their favorite minis from whatever system, and use standard FT ship designs for their systems.

This is one of those rule sets I've heard a lot about, but haven't tried. I might have to see about tracking down a copy!

The basic rules are pretty simple.  It allows you to pick a size of ship then load it up with armor, shields, weapons and the like.  That's what makes it easy to use an existing/design a ship to match a particular ship/mini you have.  It's got an interesting backstory as well.

Here is a link to the Groun Zero Games site.

You can view/order minis here.  You can also download the original rule book sets (and the first two fleet books as well I think).

Here is a link to Full Thrust stuff on Star-Ranger.

There is a BUNCH of new rules, new ships, and pictures of a lot of the ships the GZG website does not have.

It's been a LONG time for me, can't remember a single name ... I did like the German guys though, and played them pretty steadily.
Later factions seemed to break thing more and more.

I have both Full Thrust and Dirtside II.  Free Cal-Tex stands ready for Battle.

Do you collect Dirtside minis?

Still playing Full Thrust when I get the chance - usually FB2 rather than Continuum, though some of the latter's rule improvements really are improvements, so that's always great.  And yes, also a Dirtside II player and have even played combined games.

Not a lot of players on the board here though it would seem.

Can you play with firestorm models?
Firestorm: Aquan, Directorate, Retholza, Hawker (FsA)/ Terran (FsPf), RSN (FsA)/ Dindrenzi (FsPf)
DW: EotBS, FSA, PLC.
Warmaster: Kislev, Khemri, Dwarves,
BFG: Pacification Fleet (IN), Tau Expeditionary (SG), Battlefleet (Chaos), Kher-Ys Corsairs, Crusade Fleet (IN),
LotR: Khand, Gondor, Mordor

Yes, practically any miniatures can be used - I've seen games played with AMT/Ertl Star Trek models on a basketball court as the board! - But one thing about FSA ships, they are larger 'scale' than the usual FT 'scale'. My solution for using them with the usual scaled ships such as Ground Zero Games ones is the same as for BFG ships in the game; Consider them one classification larger than advertised for their original setting. So, Frigates move up to Destroyers, light Cruisers move to Heavy Cruisers, and Battleships become Dreadnoughts.

Yes firestorm models are a bit oversized

I was recently introduced to FT Light thanks to Zorper and BrdingPrty. Enjoyable rules, had fun in both games! Plotting course and velocity each turn made me feel more “in-tune” with my ships, if that makes sense. Would definitely like to play more, although my brain has an issue with running ships from another IP using the FT rules. Might not be too bad if used my RSN ships from Firestorm Armada, but I don’t think I could use my Halo ships.

I do like the ability to cause critical damage on almost any random salvo. Adds a unique element to the combat.
