They look great in formation together.  And completed in very good time.

I'm in the process of moving into a bigger home--one benefit is hosting gaming events!  That will mean more games played and more battle reports.

I'm not going to be able to make it next Sunday, let alone set up a big multi-player campaign game.

DWVA / Oct 11th Demo Day
« on: September 13, 2014, 12:12:30 pm »
I'm planning a day of miniature demo games on Saturday, October 11th at my FLGS in Culpeper, VA and I'm looking for someone willing and able to run some demo games of DW.

The main concept is to run open games for people off the street--we want to grow our local community of gamers and perhaps inspire someone to try tabletop miniature gaming.  Games will be open and demonstrating the basic rules of a system as well as show off some cool, painted models.  So, the idea is someone could walk up to a table, take command of a squadron of frigates, play a turn or two, and then walk away to try another game.

We may have up to 6 different miniature games in the store being demonstrated.

I have two painted fleets I don't mind members of the public touching, but I would like to be free from running any one game--I would like to be able to talk with people walking in and maybe direct them to a table or just answer questions, etc.  So, I would like someone else locally to actually run demo games of DW--I will have everything necessary to run a game, I just need someone to arrive and show it off.

We're planning to start at 11 am and run until 8 pm, but I don't expect anyone to run games the entire time--I'm looking for commitments of 2-4 hours, so I could possibly have 2 different gamers run the same game at different times during the day.

My FLGS doesn't carry any DW products, but they carry a range of boardgames and comics.  I'm working on getting some gift certificates from the owners to reward gamers running demos.  Please contact me if you're interested.  Thanks.

It's not necessary to have matching sea and land forces.  We'll pair a player with sea forces with a player with land forces, simple enough.

Maybe a wash to bring out the gaps between plates and deck planking.

I like the color choices for the camo.

French ship looks very good, in my opinion.

And GW's Tau Light Ochre is one of my favorite colors right out of the pot!  I can't help but love your Chinese color scheme especially since you managed to slip some green in there.  Now I'm leaning even closer to picking up some Chinese ships.

I've got 90% commitment from 2 players coming up from Richmond (Prussian & KoB or Russian), and at least 2 players from Culpeper (EotBS & CoA).

If we can get one more player, we can divide into 2 teams, and play 3 games.

Or, we could divide into 2 teams and play a big battle, incorporating ground and naval across 2 tables, like I did with with Battle of the Suez a few years back.  http://unchartedseascourier.blogspot.com/2011/07/suez-scenario.html

Planning to run a series of campaign games at the Game Vault on Sunday, 9/21.  Maybe throw in a game of Legions as well?

***UPDATE***
I am NOT going to make it on Sunday the 21st, so no big campaign game.  Sorry.

It took me some time to figure out where those destroyers came from, but I finally realized you used the top half of the Covenant battleships with French masts--awesome!  They look quite new to my eyes--the masts certainly changed the profile.  And together with the landing craft (I like the addition of those Japanese turrets), I didn't associate them with the CoA in the least.  Congrats on some simple yet effective conversions.

Great background fluff for the faction as well.  And, like the others, I'm impressed with the guide.  I look forward to seeing what kind of larger carrier model you add to the force.

Space Naval Games / Star Wars Armada

I enjoy X-Wing, but I'm more interested in a fleet action game with system mechanics which simulate larger ships.  Looks like Armada is the next Fantasy Flight game for me:
