Thanks for the heads-up! It will be interesting to see how the re-tooled Beta rules turn out. I'm cautiously optimistic they will turn out well.

I've been a bit off my painting game this year, atleast with naval stuff. I've gotten a few ships done for ABS, and some squadrons done for SW Armada. There has been some 1/1800 WWII stuff I've been painting with an eye towards selling them on Etsy. I've also been printing a ton of stuff that I haven't quite gotten painted yet

Well, to be fair the ol' forums have never been the busiest in the world, but it is true that posting has kind of fallen off over the last couple of years.
In all honesty, I think I would prefer to move to a Discord rather than a FB gronp, if for my own sanity and convenience than no other reason! I notice that I'm doing the bulk of my wargaming posting and discussion on that platform these days. Reddit, FB, Insta, etc are very much secondary.

I actually did print a base, more as a proof of concept than anything else. I will probably be able to use an extra official base from my collection, but I wanted to see how a printed one would do. The print is done, but I still need to prep and paint it.

Finally got my hands on the Cyclone Of Shadows box!
I'm hoping to get an unboxing video posted shortly, but my initial impressions are really positive. I'm very happy with it overall. One thing I was a bit surprised by is the fact that there isn't necessarily a playable campaign right out of the box; the bulk of the book is given over to the background story of a campaign fought in the setting, but unlike the old Spartan campaign books there is not a set of missions that allow gamers to "play along" with the major events of the story to re-create "history." So, minor disappointment there, but the additional rules, scenarios, and terrain in the box easily justify the purchase.

Hi all!
I've been contemplating some minor modifications to the boards lately. There are a few sub-boards that need to be archived (NOT deleted!), and I have also been thinking of splitting off the threads regarding various MBS media posts (YT, podcasts, etc) into a separate board instead of keeping them as a part of the General board.
What do you all think? Are there any other modifications that you'd like to see to the MBS forum?

Space Naval Games / Taking a Second Look at SW Armada

I have to admit, up until about 6 months ago I've mainly been a collector, rather than a player, of Star Wars Armada (SWA). Recently, however, I've managed to get a number of games in and it's entered into my regular rotation. I've really been enjoying the experience so far, to the point where I've started poking around the edges with self-printing some expansion content.
Has anyone else out there been playing any SWA recently?

That sounds really interesting. Overall, I like the balance Mantic has struck here with it's content in the expansion. There are a couple of other games I can think of that I'd like to see get similar expansions!

I've 3D printed my next project! It's a Victory class Star Destroyer for Star Wars Armada. I'm planning to paint it up in Galactic Republic colors to take advantage of the rapid reinforcements Print&Play material from Atomic Mass Games.
