I do plan to do just that! I'm keeping things close to my vest for the moment as I don't want my friends to get tipped off about what is coming ;)

A Black Templars SM patrol:

An Ultramarines patrol:

A Dark Angles patrol:

A Tau Patrol

A Tau Merchant and its escorts:

And a Rogue Trader:

Looks like these pics were from an open house for Alliance distribution back on 8 Sep. A gameplay video has been posted:

Firestorm Armada / Re: Firestorm Armada...Not fully dead yet?
« on: September 18, 2023, 05:38:38 pm »

Was BFG really that popular?  I know Games Workshop is a juggernaut in its own right,  but it seems odd to let them call the shots.

That's a great question, and I think it's a fundamentally unknowable one in the sense that the hard data either doesn't exist or isn't publicly available. All I can speak to is that BFG seems to have an enduring popularity based on how I've seen the community evolve over the last 15+ years (yikes, I'm getting old), and that it has a pretty large built-in fan base thanks to the popularity of the 40k universe.

Regarding the second part of your question about "letting them call the shots," it seems to me that Warcradle drew a few lessons from the rise and fall of Spartan, one of those lessons being that rapid release of new games is a path to ruin. So, I'm not surprised to see them slow-roll an eventual FSA reboot. However, I'm generally in agreement with you that there will never be a perfect time to launch the game, so eventually they will have to bite the bullet and launch it.

MBS Media / MBS Podcast Episode 85: Taking Another Look at Star Wars Armada
« on: September 17, 2023, 05:45:21 pm »

For Episode 85, Andy is joined by a new co-host, Chris. Chris is Andy’s local “partner in crime” when it comes to the game that is the focus of this episode: Star Wars Armada. After years of collecting but not playing, Andy has been playing a lot of Star Wars Armada over the last year, and a lot of those games have been with Chris! The two of them touch on the changes that have happened to the game and its support over the last few years, and prognosticate on the game’s future.

News and Rumors / Star Trek: Into the Unknown
« on: September 08, 2023, 07:56:37 pm »
Looks like Wizkids is coming out with a new Star Trek miniatures game! There was a member of the Star Trek Attack Wing FB group that posted videos from a recent presentation given at a trade show. I'm not 100% which show it was, but the pics shown look very interesting. A few tidbits:

-New minis and a new scale from STAW
-Overall larger size of models (in the range of SW Armada)
-Does NOT appear to be a reskin of SW Armada
-The core set is going to be Feds Vs. Dominion, retail for $150US, and is scheduled to hit in April 2024

Here are the pics that were posted on FB:

I don't know a whole lot else other than what was shown in these pics. There doesn't even seem to be an official announcement on the Wizkids website yet. I am very interested in a new Star Trek minis game though!

I really like the envelopes on those air ships! The alternating colors on the panels really make them pop.

Space Naval Games / Metaverse (Free Space Combat Game)
« on: September 08, 2023, 07:33:26 pm »
I stumbled across a free space combat ruleset I hadn't heard of before called Metaverse. Here is the link:

http://mv2.battlespacepublishing.ca

Seems like a very flexible set of rules. The rules themselves are free, but it seems there is a monthly subscription to gain access to the stat generator. It seems pretty low, though...$12CDN for a whole year.

Anyone ever hear of these rules before or  have any experience with them?

Looking good so far!  Will you be carrying over any of the older ships, or is this a clean slate?

I have a large collection of the old Prussians, but the goal is to start fresh with the new 3.0 models and grow from there. I'm planning a little campaign with my friend here in the Norfolk area.

So, there has been some posting by Stuart from Warcradle that they are also tracking the potential re-launch of BFG, and are actually looking to time the re-launch of FSA for about a year after the re-launch of BFG, to avoid competing with the hype. That's interesting, as it suggests that:

1. WC is pretty sure a BFG re-launch is coming

and

2. We are probably 1.5-2 years out from any potential FSA launch.

Hopefully they still do the beta in that time, though.

So, speculation is swirling again, over this image:

The general consensus is that the image is referencing either a BFG reboot or a Space Hulk reboot. I guess we will find out tonight!

News and Rumors / Re: Acheron's Fall from Ramper Design

Here's a bit more info:

https://infinitytheuniverse.com/blog/acherons-fall-game

Quote
ACHERON'S FALL
Acheron's Fall is a space battle game where players captain large warships in frenetic and dynamic battles. Their figures will be made of high-quality plastic resin.

Each player will carry from 1 to 3 ships and it will be playable for 1 vs 1 and multiplayer game modes.

Ramon, from Ramper Design, assures that Acheron's Fall <has mechanics that you won't find in any other ship game in the market. It has a very innovative movement system that represents the inertias of the ships on the table using D12 dice. The game includes, among its rules, the resource management of the ships where you will have to distribute energy and crew to perform actions or improve them>.

Acheron Falls is based on a chapter in the Infinity backstory surrounding the Aqueron Lock in the Paradiso system. Players will be able to take command of a fleet to protect the Human Sphere from the alien forces of the Combined Army, or from the rapacity of the other great powers.

If you are interested in testing the game, you will be able to do so at the event dedicated to the Infinity universe: Interplanetario, August 18-20, 2023 in Vigo, Galicia; or at Freak Wars, September 9-10 in Madrid.

I had completely missed this announcement back in April! I'll admit, I'm not overly invested in the Infinity setting, but this looks like it could be an interesting game. There seems to be a bit more info over on the official Infinity forums:

Well, this happened  ;D

I decided to jump in and put together a fleet of Warcradle's new Prussian models. I started with building up a 750 point fleet built around an Elector:

The plan is to grow it from this core by slowly adding more ships to it. The paint scheme is going to be similar to my OG Prussians. Here is the WIP test model:

More to come!
