Space Naval Games / Played in a SW Armada Tournament!

Played in a local SW armada tournament yesterday! Just 4 of us, so 3 rounds was perfect to get a chance to play everyone in else. There were two Rebel players, including me, and two imperial players. First game was a bad loss, second game was a solid win, and third game was a narrow loss. So, a 1-2 record, good enough for 3rd lol. Here are some pics!

After years of collecting but not playing, Andy has been playing a lot of Star Wars Armada over the last year, and a lot of those games have been with Chris! News and Rumors / Star Trek: Into the Unknown

Looks like Wizkids is coming out with a new Star Trek miniatures game! There was a member of the Star Trek Attack Wing FB group that posted videos from a recent presentation given at a trade show. I'm not 100% which show it was, but the pics shown look very interesting. A few tidbits:

-New minis and a new scale from STAW
-Overall larger size of models (in the range of SW Armada)
-Does NOT appear to be a reskin of SW Armada
-The core set is going to be Feds Vs. Dominion, retail for $150US, and is scheduled to hit in April 2024

I don't know a whole lot else other than what was shown in these pics. There doesn't even seem to be an official announcement on the Wizkids website yet. I am very interested in a new Star Trek minis game though!

Space Naval Games / Metaverse (Free Space Combat Game)

I stumbled across a free space combat ruleset I hadn't heard of before called Metaverse. Here is the link:

Seems like a very flexible set of rules. The rules themselves are free, but it seems there is a monthly subscription to gain access to the stat generator. It seems pretty low, though...$12CDN for a whole year.

Anyone ever hear of these rules before or  have any experience with them?

The Shipyard / DW 3.0 Prussian Imperium Project

Well, this happened  ;D



I decided to jump in and put together a fleet of Warcradle's new Prussian models. I started with building up a 750 point fleet built around an Elector:



The plan is to grow it from this core by slowly adding more ships to it. The paint scheme is going to be similar to my OG Prussians. Here is the WIP test model:

Dystopian Wars / Cyclone Of Shadows - Initial Impressions

Finally got my hands on the Cyclone Of Shadows box!

I'm hoping to get an unboxing video posted shortly, but my initial impressions are really positive. I'm very happy with it overall. One thing I was a bit surprised by is the fact that there isn't necessarily a playable campaign right out of the box; the bulk of the book is given over to the background story of a campaign fought in the setting, but unlike the old Spartan campaign books there is not a set of missions that allow gamers to "play along" with the major events of the story to re-create "history." So, minor disappointment there, but the additional rules, scenarios, and terrain in the box easily justify the purchase.

General Discussion / Forum Reorganization

Hi all!

I've been contemplating some minor modifications to the boards lately. There are a few sub-boards that need to be archived (NOT deleted!), and I have also been thinking of splitting off the threads regarding various MBS media posts (YT, podcasts, etc) into a separate board instead of keeping them as a part of the General board.

What do you all think? Are there any other modifications that you'd like to see to the MBS forum?

Space Naval Games / Taking a Second Look at SW Armada

I have to admit, up until about 6 months ago I've mainly been a collector, rather than a player, of Star Wars Armada (SWA). Recently, however, I've managed to get a number of games in and it's entered into my regular rotation. I've really been enjoying the experience so far, to the point where I've started poking around the edges with self-printing some expansion content.

Has anyone else out there been playing any SWA recently?

The Shipyard / 3d Printed Victory-class Star Destroyer

I've 3D printed my next project! It's a Victory class Star Destroyer for Star Wars Armada. I'm planning to paint it up in Galactic Republic colors to take advantage of the rapid reinforcements Print&Play material from Atomic Mass Games.

I'm very impressed with the quality of the detail, and the supports were spot-on. It printed cleanly on the first attempt!
