Title: DW 2.0 games
Post by: CDR-G on June 04, 2014, 07:31:13 am
So 2.0 is out, my rules and Shadow hunter arrive today. Anyone interested in playing a game under the new rules?

In general, what days are good for people? I know it varies.

Should I continue the Sunday Game vault reservation?

Do people want to continue the X-Cam Campaign under 1.1? Many of the contestants have fleets that won't be 2.0 for a while.

I'm hosting a Warhammer Fantasy event on Sunday the 8th, but Kyle and I are going to sneak in a game at a back table when nobody is looking!

I'm excited about getting my models out on the table again.

I might be able to shake free this coming Sunday! I was wondering about the X-cam myself...it seems like it has tapered off a bit, anyway, so it might be nice to cut it off and get ready to launch the next one with 2.0.

Actually, strike that. It looks like I have a family commitments I won't be able to wiggle out of for the next two weeks. I should be able to get up to Fredricksburg on the 31st, though.

Just got my rules yesterday! Hope to have it read at least a couple of times over the next week or so. Life has been rather relentless, so haven't been able to make a game. End of the month is looking a bit free, so please keep me posted on when folks are thinking of getting together. Would be nice to wrap up the X-Cam, but I understand the scheduling conflicts.

I am in the process now of setting up some games at GV for the 29th. The 28th is still uncertain, GV Clerk says they are full. I hope to still do something on that day for those that find Sunday inconvenient. So far Aaron from Culpepper and a new guy have said they will come. Ruckdog (Norfolk) had previously expressed interest. I will recruit from the locals this week. It looks like we can get the back room and another table out front. Aaron will have some basic scenarios ready. I will have some as well if needed. I hope to have some cheat sheets as well. a couple from the Spartan forum are out already (I think one was from a Beta tester).

Yes, Sunday the 29th of June works for me.  I'll bring terrain and extra ships.  The Glorious 29th of June!

I ordered 2 basic TAC decks from Spartan along with some parts and a RoF MK1- now that they are useful.
I I don't expect them by the 29th. Buy who knows.

I plan on coming. Let me know if you need me to help with anything! On the TAC decks, I'll have an extra to share; Shadow Hunter comes with two.

What points list and type are you playing?

I would imagine we are going to be running naval core forces (that is what most of us have for models)...as for the points, I would bet on around 800 or so. However, that is up to Cdr G and MaddrB!

At 800 I only have a Blazing Sun fleet.  Maybe my Ottomans will have enough painted by then, too.

Spoke to the Italian player in our crew about this, and he may be able to come down on the 29th as well. Truthfully, the World Cup game that day could sway the ability to make it down  ;D

Points wise, I have a large amount of FSA and the new stats for them. I also have my half of the Shadow Hunter box (on the painting table!!!). If several players are going to be using this box set, I may end up "creating" a list for the interest of variety.

I also have the FSA half of Shadow Hunter, including the Admiral's edition. I have one TAC deck from that as well.
I will have the Liberty, the three Georgetowns, the Bostan and the Turtles painted to a working level. That will make three of the new FSA Battle groups available!
I can use my French instead.
It's possible I will have the New FSA BG as well. (Ordered)
I have been talking to some guys from the Iron Fist League. Mostly at flashback comics in Woodbridge. (Don Mundo and some others)
May get some traction there.
See ya on the 29th.

Yeah, Don Mundo came down for one of the DW events I organized a while back and brought some guys from Woodbridge.  I'm glad to hear they're still playing, and I'm looking forward to playing some games on Sunday the 29th.

I'm planning on running my PE, myself. I've got some of the newer models; not the new fleet box (yet), but the support box with the sub and the battle cruisers. I'm going to try to have them painted up in time!

Sounds like there will be a fair amount of folks showing up to the event. If the games are locking in at 800pts then 2-3 games per table in the back room of the GV, across two long tables should work out nicely. CDR-G, were you able to score us the space needed? Our Ottoman and French players may make it as well. Soon as i get conformation from them i'll post here. That will make four from our little crew. Here's to hoping there is enough room to play!

We are on the calendar. I put in for the back room and the first table  next to it in the outer area.
1:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Do we want more time? Go later?
I will change the start time to noon with a game start time of 1:30 (for set up time).

Sounds like a good idea; I'm sure we will need the extra time to allow folks to arrive and to organize ourselves. Thanks a lot for setting this up!

It would be good to have some kind of count- and just as important level of complexity desired and which fleets will be there.

We have the space from 1200 to 1930, I doubt people will last that long.
We can go till close if its a hot game.
7.5 hours should good for two games, one small and one larger.
Larger games are easier now and not really that many more models- just bigger.
Personally I would go with a larger point total but a limit on the number of Squadrons.
Thoughts?
Also, do people want scenarios? Some will be available. But we should let those who wish, set up fleets ahead of time.
MadDrB- Scenarios?

I wouldn't mind playing at least one game with the new deployment and objective rules from the rule book, just to try them out.

I agree.  I would like to try the Section C rules  and the main activation by activation. But also want to try the whole complexity thing.
