Title: WestAussies WIP
Post by: WestAustralian on September 17, 2017, 06:52:35 pm
I always have a stack of miniatures waiting on my table.
When I get a chance to paint I like to have a few things to choose from.
It also helps to inspire me.

This is what's on my table at the moment

Yeah, looking forward to seeing the final products! I do the same thing--multiple projects on the bench at any given time. Not sure if it's an effective strategy for me though--I end up bouncing from project to project and it takes forever to finish anything.  :-X

Thanks For the comments guys.

I bounce between projects too.
As far as I am concerned, it's great. When I am painting something I am happy.
The projects do get finished eventually.
It is better to be painting something, then not being in the mood for what is on the go.

I have almost finished my Omnydyne Executive Battlecruiser.
No photo to upload though.

Bouncing between project keeps my from being fed up with a paint scheme, when i have to paint more models than i like. :)

So for me it is a little Infinity this month, FSA the next and then some more Tau for SW:A. And i am a slow painter due to not having much hobby time (family, work, sleep).

But i never have this much models in so many different stages.  ;D Keep up the work.

I know exactly what you mean Britmat. I have to be careful to not burn out on a colour scheme.
I have Dindrenzi Planetfall and Armada in the same scheme. I painted 6 frigates, a Heavy Helix, an Assault Helix, 8 infantry and 1 "T2" size ship. I have been staring at the remaining fleet since. I burnt out on the colours.

Sounds like some great variety on your desk. What is the policy here about non ship pics. I sometimes paint Dragons and stuff. Is it ok to post pics of them.

So I have been making progress on my Tarakian Fleet.
The Green is a wash only, I like the effect.

The Tarakian Cruisers are done, I will post completed pics soon.
I have been slamming my Progress on a pair of Terran Battlecruisers.
I already had my scheme worked out on some frigates.

Terran Battle Cruisers...how i hate them.  :)

The blue look fits them well.

The Terran Battlecruisers were so quick and easy to paint.
It is really good to have something easy to paint as a break.
I need to spend some time plucking foam trays.
My Dindrenzi, Tarakian, Terran and Veydreth are all without a home.

The Veydreth have moved up on my painting table.
So have my other asteroids.
The Asteroids and my Veydreth are going to share a base look.
In my Universe the Veydreth manufacture their ships from Super Dense Asteroid Materials.
It also gives them great camouflage

For transportation i use a combination of shoe boxes and this:

@Brimat, sounds like a good transportation setup. How do you store your Miniatures?

So, as usual I have a lot of stuff on my workbench

I finished the asteroids (got to post them in the collection)
I have my Asteroid coloured Veydreth in progress
I Started a Terran Base (I am not using the Perspex parts)
And i have lots of stuff waiting to go

Loving the camo theme with the Veydreth, can picture them powered down, just floating amongst the asteroids waiting for an ambush.

Not sure on your reason for not using the perspex bits, but always stood out to me as a bit flat. On one hand you have this detailed station, and the other a flat featureless support strut, beam thing. Seemed a bit odd. The station certainly works without it.

Thanks for the comment eberious
We we on the same wavelength, the Veydreth are definitely styled to lie in wait in amongst an asteroid field. Waiting to ambush passing ships.
I have started their Red engine glowing bits. Not much progress though, life getting in the way.

Once again we have the same thoughts.
The Perspex parts on the Terran station are so prominent. Being Flat, detail wise, they stand out from the model, not add to it. They also completely change the shape of the overall model by hiding the inward angles.

I hope to get more time on my station and my Veydreth this weekend, but I also have a Warmachine colour test to do for a friend. Fingers crossed

Our Terran Player also didn't used the acrylic parts, they just cover the details of the station.

In their shoe boxes. :) I don't like foam inlays, because i made bad experience with the sticky glue in them.

Loose glue in a storage tray would be terrible. Luckily I have not had any issues.

Small update for me, I have been painting some warmachine for a friend, distracting me from FSA.

Engines on the Veydreth:

Nice, they certainly have the rock cammo. Are those frigates and cruisers? Interesting point(for me) with the direction of the 'hottest' part of the engine glow at the outer side going inwards to coolest in the first two pics. I would, by default, have the glow from the center of the ship outwards without even thinking of it.

Don't know why but that's really caught my eye.  ;D

Thanks for the comments Eberious.
I am enjoying the colour match to my asteroids
I see your point about the heat, I guess technically the glow should radiate from the contre of the nozzle
I went from the outside because it is wider there and gave me more room to blend

So small ice blue update on the Veydreth

More thinking to be done on these.
