I particularly like when Rene Auberjonois compares the show to a Russian novel... :-)

And in case anyone's in doubt, DS9 is indeed the best Trek show to date. I'll fight you on that. :-)

Great article, and only further whets my appetite to watch DS9. I was a little too young when it premiered to get all of the subplots and context, so I didn’t watch even the entire first season. Then I went to college and pretty much watched zero tv for about four years.

I definitely want to watch DS9, but I feel that I should watch all of TNG first (I missed about half of that entire series).

Not necessary, save for extra background on Worf and the Cardassian-Bajor conflict
