We've got some really exciting things happening for Firestorm! 8)

New models for both Firestorm and Planetfall is of course good news.

The expanded background and campaign system is an interesting touch. Having the community directly impact the story could go either way. Corvus Belli does it for Infinity and it works really well, but Infinity is quite a different monster then the Firestorm Galaxy. It is really rewarding to play games and write battle reports that feel like they have an actual impact though.

Then we have Firestorm 3.0. I personally am not at all offended that they are pushing it out. I think if they rushed it now we would get a crap product. They've been very focused on Halo. By giving themselves time to marinate on it I'm looking forward to some good changes.

Plus that sweet looking Terran carrier! The renders always look worse then the models, but that thing is awesome! Terran's are my baby though ;)

Its good to just hear there's a Plan :-)
Doubly good to hear there's organized play that I can base events around. An ongoing campaign, with the right hooks, could even make for recruiting new players!

The Indomitable looks like someone sliced the Pegasus in half laterally, and sandwiched the Galactica in between :-)

I'm all for new X.0 Editions! Especially if they maintain the free PDF method, or even allow just buying the small-format rules for $5-$15.

And all the Flashpoint talk certainly points to a Relthoza / Sorylian Box Set - which are my two most painted fleets right now! Maybe I'll finally get Battleships for each that I actually like!

Will be interesting to see how they work the "player-driven galaxy" thing. I'm not a tournament player, but something like this I could certainly get behind.

Has Spartan ever published a map of the Firestorm galaxy?

IIRC, there's a map in the very first book, but it wasn't very good.

I think that I had printed a nice gloss copy of it somewhere.

Dale I was thinking it looked a lot like a battlestar also. It is closer to the newest style of Terran ships and I am a big fan.

One of the things Bill pushed on Dan Bird during NOVA is to publish a big poster of the star map. Apparently Neil has a large print out of it in the office, so it's completely doable.

I really like the idea of more fluff, I think it's one of the few things lacking in the game, and one of the things that really hinders me in selling it to my GW obsessed friends.

I heartily agree with you here. The massive amount of fluff in the BFG rule book, for example, really sets the mood for the game.
