Space Naval Games / Re: Space Naval Gaming Resources UPDATED 11/12/21

In addition to official stores supplying stls to print one's own fleet, there are various designers offering their fleets at low prices on many websites. This is one of the more prolific and varied scale artist's work -

Now that is a game with a fine pedigree from a research point of view . . . And it's the type of warfare I am interested in gaming as well. Thanks for the heads-up!

General Discussion / Re: [POLL] What do you think of Tabletop Simulator?
« on: February 11, 2022, 09:20:13 pm »

I actually watched one of those- I was very impressed with the program, it does seem to do for tabletop games what Roll20 does for RPGs, though I'm not keen on using it just yet.

Plus which I enjoyed the game itself :)

I don't know about your conclusion; They dont look at all bad and as I've found with 6mm gaming, some people do like to take a close look if you've put in the effort (Just watch out for the sausage-fingered ones, that's all! :) )

 Looks good so far.

What are the rules like for this sort of combat? Mechanics wise, and how fast they play?

General Discussion / Re: End of 2021- What Did You Accomplish?
« on: January 02, 2022, 08:00:24 pm »
Well, let's see -

 1. Completed my DW Republic of Egypt force (Only one Carrier in it, but maybe that will change )

 2. Acquired a considerable DW Dominion of Canada force, now in the process of painting the other half for the summer.

 3.  Been getting into the vast world of 3D printing, mostly through stl and public access print. Very impressed with what is available, and have a bit of space scenery ready for games in the new year.

 4. Been very involved in DW gaming with the local groups; Must have played almost 35 games this year, though best not discuss my win/loss/draw stats, shall we?  :D :D

 5. Scratch built some items for DW as well; regular readers will have seen my take on the Quebec sky fortress and the civil dirigible liner I have posted, and that Brigade Models mini will get some more work as a base for expanded aerial assets for the EIMC in 2022.

That's about it for fleet games this year.

On a similar note, did you see Warcradle are running a poll on the issues people have with current cards and values?

. . . those are some chunky ships there  :P.
But if the mechanics are interesting, no need to use them I imagine - Proxies are always available, after all.

Those a impressive for paper models. Probably a cheap quick way to create a new fleet.

Welcome aboard! You have a wide range of scales of interest, so what periods of history are you interested in playing?

That is pretty sweet looking

I thought so . . . The same designer has a set of trading ships available, as well as a nice modular jetty.

This looks to be a fascinating project - One I shall follow with interest.

Where did you source the crew from?

Can we add Hardware Studios to this list? They have a full set of stls for printing a fleet suitable for "A Billion Suns" and a rather nice mega-freighter that could be used anywhere.

MBS Media / Re: MBS Podcast Episode 57
« on: November 07, 2021, 09:57:53 pm »

Great podcast as per usual - Nice to hear from "Easy E" about his work and ideas on rules in general. Will certainly check out "Castles In The Sky" when it arrives on my shores :)

I would say about Dystopian Wars 2.5 Escorts that they can be very swing-y in results and have an example from a game held yesterday - My Russians against a Chinese Fed force, the Chinese Battle cruiser was in combat with a Dudinka and her escort Velikys; After the first turn, the BC had taken two hull damage and the Dudinka was on seven Fires and on e Corrosion marker, with four hull damage. Next turn, the BC again thumped the Dudinka with two Criticals, another Fire and a Hard Pounding, which combined with unrepaired Fire and Corrosion markers, saw it sink.  However . . . The Velkiy's moved up and fired in link, and dealt through exploding dice a double Critical sunk the BC. It's never a good idea to dismiss Escort groups, whether defending or attacking

Welcome, welcome, and welcome all over again!

You'll find this a most helpful resource for DW 2.5, and you might even find other games that catch your interest!
