Thought I'd start this thread for those who frequent the Haven. I'll be there this Thursday (10/02) for anyone interested in a game.

Some big decisions might be made this week (Notably I may be dropping the classes I'm currently trying out)
If so it will free up my Thursday, possibly for some firestorm...?

We'll have to plan something when I can secure a night. For now, I've got a new guy I'll be teaching, who already has a whole Sorylian fleet from 1E, that he never used!

He lacks the Battleship - but after seeing what losing my BB cost me on the Battle Log, I doubt he'll ever use one! Plus those Hastas rocked!

I brought my Tarakians (Ganak, 4x sq of Sulan, and two 5x sq of Tarls) with a 3-ship squadron of Makalu torp cruisers. He had Terrans led by a squadron of Battlecruisers with a squadron of Heavy Cruisers, a squadron of Cruisers, and a couple squadrons of frigates. We played Escalating engagement and between my dice rolling with their usual god-like proficiency and the Reserve rules being especially cruel to Quickdraw, it was a bad day for the Terran Alliance.

I can make to the store for a game of Firestorm Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday this week if anyone is up for it. Trying to decide if I'll bring the unpainted Ryushi or not.

Anyone interested in putting the new guy through his paces tomorrow (Monday 8 Feb). I have the DW Covenant battle group box with an extra battleship, 3 extra cruisers and I think an extra package of frigates thrown in. Its only 1/2 painted if you can forgive that. I've yet to play an actual game of DW so I hope you have some patience. I'll be there between 6 & 6:30 depending on when I can get daughter to ballet.

I normally love to help out the new guys, but tonight is Lodge for me; and my other game night of the week is spoken for.
What nights are you generally available?

Mondays are normally the best. The rest of the family has obligations and I can slip away without causing too much chaos. Thursday, if I swap my daughter's ballet duty with my wife. Tuesday and Wednesday I try and reserve for the family because I work Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7pm - 9am.

I had two Firestorm Demos scheduled for tomorrow (Sat May 2nd) starting at 10ish at Gamer's Haven. One cancelled,a nd one postponsed to 3PM. Any takers for an early game of Firestorm or Planetfall? Surely someone wants to see their tanks swarmed by 32 bases of Relthozan Drones!? :-)

For opponent fleet, I can offer Relthoza, Dindrenzi, Ba'Kash, or Aquans. Your pick :-)
(I might even try to talk you into trading some Sorylians, if you want some of my excess Dindrenzi to pair with your RSN.)
If there's time, we can drop my "demo" stuff for a quick Planetfall teaching game, Aquans vs Relthoza.

Well im slowly building up the sorilians actually. Just so i can have a start for both sides.
For opponent being whatever ya feel like will be fun lol. 1000pts should be good for now.

1000pts works, and we'll plan for both games.
Sorylians are a good pick (doubly so in Planetfall) that reward dedicated play.

I see you're new here, so welcome aboard! If you'd like, head over to the Introductions thread and tell us a bit about yourself--what you play, what factions, etc. Also, what stores where you are most likely to play. The Colorado players on Man Battlestations are divided up between the Springs and Denver, and a lot of us play in both locations.

My meeting at work ran really late so we got a late start, but we still got in two full turns. Alex was at a bit of a disadvantage since he doesn't usually play his Sorylians and I've got lots of experience with my fleet. Even so, it was a good fight. I think a squadron of Tarakian cruisers is on his purchase list.

Yea most definitely had between the Stephans good rolling and my poor rolling and just out classed with them cheeky tarakian cruisers lol. Overall had a great time and good fight just no luck with killing things off quickly enough. Going to try out 2 hastas and see how they do with the SRS that they can put out.

From what I've seen of the Hasta they are rock solid. A real force to reckon with when paired to traditional Sorlyian strategy.

Actually, sorry John, I already found an opponent--I didn't see any responses to the thread last night so I texted Josh. He and a friend of his will be there, his friend is just getting into Dystopian Wars with the PLC but I don't think he has models yet. So it looks like Josh and I will be going through a demo game with him.

So I'm going to show up tomorrow with a couple fleets and set up and see if anyone is interested in trying it out. Already dropped a note on the store forum.

Just as a general note...and this goes for all of us who play at the Haven...it might not be a bad idea to also post on the store forum if you're looking for an opponent. Not everyone who plays Firestorm or Halo or Dystopian Wars at the Haven is also on MBS.

Monday nights are supposed to be Spartan Games nights at Gamer's Haven, although there usually aren't that many Spartan players there on Monday nights. While we have quite a few Spartan players between Denver and the Springs, they don't usually all tend to show up in the same place at the same time.

I had the feeling that most people are going for UNSC. Those Mac Guns look Deadly... So I plan on going Covenant, unless I am mistaken on that.

MACs are deadly, yes, but the Covenant has a way of surviving. Quickdraw complained through our entire last game about my UNSC being overpowered against his Covenant, and he still won the game. :)
As a Covenant player, I would tell you to 1) use terrain to your advantage as much as you can, 2) take advantage of your 270-degree firing arcs (the UNSC pretty much ends up shooting straight ahead most of the time), and 3) don't pass up opportunities to HAMMER the UNSC's Marathon cruisers.
