New WW2 ships. Queen Mary Added
« on: December 13, 2012, 05:41:55 am »
Seems like forever since I got anything done, anyway finally cleared these semi completed ships off the work bench, actually the carriers still need their aircraft added.  Forgot a coin so used a bottle cap for size comparison.

HM Ships Chiddingfold and Burdock.  Burdock is in what I am told is south Atlantic camo

USS Belleau Wood

HMS Vanguard

IJN Ryujo

HMS Furious

And Furious with her earlier WW1 self which I finished a while ago.

Very nice looking stuff, as always! I especially like your Vanguard. These are all 1:2400, correct?

I can't believe the detail on those models at that scale.  Are they all single-piece castings, or are turrets and other bits glued on?  My limited experience with naval models at this scale don't look so detailed, but I've only collected some pre-dreadnought era ships which are on the small side at this scale when compared to WWII era ships....

Or maybe it's just your painting skill which brings the models to life....

These are all GHQ so a good amount of detail to start with.  THe smaller ships, below cruiser are one piece.  The large ships all have some pieces of superstructure to add and the turrets and so forth and all the carriers have aircraft to add once I get around to it.

The last semi finished one off the desk.  RMS Queen Mary finished in her civilian colours.

She looks great! You did a really good job with the decks on this one. Must have been a fairly tedious task, since liners have more decking to deal with ;). You know, I've long had a fascination with the Atlantic liners. The QM is especially interesting since she was among the last of the breed.
