That is fair, might be the picture, but looks a little like warlords smooth plastic.  I think the mortar even on the sprue looks a little crude.

Looks like Launch will be next year according to the new blog, since we will get images of the new Covenant sprues before the end of the year and nothing else.  The Plastics detail isn't a match with Spartan's resin.  https://blog.warcradle.com/blog/2020/warcradle-studios-diary-34

I do wonder what has happened to the first two fleet that were supposedly designed in resin and were going to be released first, the Brits and the Yanks.  Redesign in plastic?

Ruckdog, I am referring to the fact that there is a mix of small and medium ships, and looks like only one kind of small ships bundled with the differing choices of mediums.

I quite like the Russians as looking less gothic and OTT and closer to Spartan's version, though the turrets could be less hi-tech.  The plastics will be a faff for people like me who are less skilled at modelling, and I dislike that they mix different classes on the same sprue making it harder for those seeking to collect a certain style of force, but that may just be a starter box thing.

Russian sprues from a deleted blog released briefly today.  Looks like the Brits and Yanks who were going to be released in resin have been put back.

Certainly, its one of the world building things where some designers could do something to build a sense of the world, expand its vision by giving super heavy vessels names that reflect the fleets involved.

It was very interesting to me that the process of the development of the Retholza's hive mind is a very blatant homage to the development of machine control in Dune.

The Rense ship looks nice, a decent adaptation of Spartan's models.  As always I never get when they can do that, they don't do it more.  The discontinuity is the biggest problem by creating divides between the editions.

Dakkar, you are so right.  I read the first little bit about the Retholza and I was pleasantly surprised.  I am very much down on Warcradle's fluff, in my opinion it tends towards the generic and grimdark given half a chance when I am really more a shades of grey and preferably lighter ones kind of guy.  Artistic, singing, but still warlike expansionist spiders is just so cool.  Reminds me of Thrawn, a commander who can use art to understand his enemies.  The bump to earth with the bog standard then the AI took over and so they lost all art and culture was depressing.   I wouldn't mind a Killik style artistic hivemind.

The ships are mixed.  I do like that there are touches of the current designs and an actual attempt to make models that are more obvious evolutionary developments of current ships compared to the monstrous things that happened to a lot of the factions for Dystopian Wars that make me less than keen to pick up those ships, but Firestorm was less consistent and I was less invested in that game.

Firestorm Armada / Re: New FAQ for the new Firestorm Edition

Thanks for sharing this.  The big question for me remains how they will handle movement with the fancy new bases and the somewhat ambitious early words of Warcradle's spiritual liege.  Also interesting how much Warcradle seems to be opting for nostalgia with a game more like Full Thrust just as the New Dystopian Wars land aims for for more of an Epic feel.  The Storm Zone coalition fluff seems quite reasonable even if the planet of hats tendencies of other races seems to be dialled to 11.

Pity about the beta, even if we didn't have the guiding hand of Warcradle to guide us through, the Dystopian wars Beta lasted for about a year with some minimal updates so exploring how space will be played with and getting a chance to poke about under the hood would be fun.

The random fluff changes so that Warcradle can 'make things their own' continues.  I really dislike their approach of its about people's inherent character rather than government and structures, and their choice of new character for the Terran Federation is depressingly generic evil company which never strikes me as particularly sustainable for an empire over hundreds of years.

That's a really good point.  I think Deco tends to look more warlike but looks less detailed so I can see why the change, even if its one I don't personally like.  Thank you for finding such an apposite way to describe the difference.

I've mostly just been writing fluff material and part of a group updating lists.  2.5 or 2.0 seems to be the way most people are playing, and the project work of rewriting 2.5  to a 2.75 seems to be low down people's interests since enthusiasm seems to be pretty limited.
