Dystopian Wars / Couple of new models leaked on to facebook
« on: April 19, 2018, 03:38:13 am »
So we have what looks like an updated Magenta

And an updated KoB Small flier, probably for Armoured Clash

So the Magenta doesn't look too bad an update beyond the usual sigil spam on the frontage and below the bridge, and the weird bridge spike.  The plane has a problem of a confused identity, with the steampunk Chassis combined with Spitfire wings rather than the biplane wings, making it look a bit mixed up, and rather dieselpunk for a steampunk setting.

Dystopian Wars / New Fluff update
« on: February 28, 2018, 07:27:34 am »
So we have this update from Stuart https://community.warcradle.com/topic/21859-an-introduction-to-the-dystopian-age/?tab=comments#comment-365751

So my opinions first
Pros
1. Firstly War is back!  Yay!  This setting now has a series of armed conflicts in the background
2. Less Alien weirdness.  Nation states seem to be functional whilst the actual influence of the dark council seems limited to shadowy stuff in the margins.
3. Remembering the awesome campaign books.  The fluff got mangled but at least it seems Stuart has at least skimmed their blurb and maybe read some of them

Cons
1. Still stress on the hex, despite the fact it has almost no bearing on the events occurring.  I get that this is still supposed to be the same setting but Chekov's gun implies it needs to do something to the background to make it worth mentioning.
2. Timeline - put it in chronological order, and get it sorted when Antarctica was colonised, because that starts to interact with how the Enlightened work.  I would much prefer to see Sturgeon as a this Science was meant to help mankind running the military against the ends justifies the means Carpathian with his own rival faction, providing an interesting dichotomy in morality
3. Bring back alliance blocs beyond the 8, so people have an excuse to be places.  The Japanese fleet coming in to support a Prussian invasion in the Caribbean doubles the nations involved ad explains the attack better rather than blundering idiots.
4. Wider war and interbellum is a good excuse for a. the interbellum, b. fitting both Spartan classic models (War stage 1 versions) and WC monstrosities (war stage 2)

Dystopian Wars / The New Factional make up
« on: December 19, 2017, 12:23:19 pm »
Found this on facebook, thought it might be of interest - drawn from the new forums movement of official threads.

Latin alliance is currently France, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Chile and SUSA.

Ottoman Sultanate has some interesting choices - Turks, Egyptians and Greeks

Prussian Imperium is the old PE, Danish and Teutonic order,

The Union has absorbed the Honourable Eclipse Company

Russian Commonwealth has the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Kingdom of Romania and Back Wolf to its name.

The Covenant still stands alone

The Celestial Empire now includes the Chinese Federation

The Crown gets KOB, free Australians, Dominion of Canada, Raj, East India Merchant company, with no royal Australia

So what does this mean?  No mercs currently as their own thing, no Japanese empire in South America, and no free Hellenic kingdom.

Dystopian Wars / DWars fluff is dead, long live Warcradle

Taken from Stuart MacKaness's comment on facebook

Quote
The new narrative may well have some of the events of the original game, but the world is different, the history is different and the factions are different. The current narrative ended with the end of Spartan. The full narrative won't be there until the book is released. No point in looking for detail that isn't there at this point. We're focusing on getting a great game written and then seeing where the narrative needs to go to make sure that it reflects the game.

Dystopian Wars / Flashpoint Campaign
« on: August 28, 2017, 05:55:42 pm »
We are looking at running a Flashpoint campaign for the group in Norwich, already looking at some fluffy events and got the tokens.  Has anybody tried the system?  Any advice?

Roll Call / Hello there from Nelson country!
« on: August 28, 2017, 08:57:36 am »
Hello there!  I'm Danny from Norwich, part of a group of DWars players from Norfolk and survivor of the old Spartan Forum.  I have an excessive amount of Kingdom of Britannia, land, sea and an adequate amount of air, also allied EIMC and a decent sized Raj fleet.
