Cruel Seas - coastal forces game by Warlord. Starter set about £50 which should include 6 RN Vosper MTBs and 4 Kriegsmarine S boats. As you can see in the sprues the RN one can make 1 vosper with 20mm gun on the prow and 1 vosper with 6 pounder on the prow. The 2 s boats are also built each as a different class. Other ships will be released in resin. 6 fleets will be released. RN, Kreigsmarine, US, Japanese, Italian and Russian.

1/300th? So it would be compatible with a lot of microscale WW2 and Moderns for combined arms games.....Color me intrigued.

Not sure...what I gather from FB posts is that the wake markers and D6s are some sort of speed indicator.

I am always interested in new Naval games.

However, the tables in the photos I have seen have looked relatively crowded.  I am interested in seeing more though.

Really can't wait to see this on the table. One of the guys at my FLGS said that Warlord ran out of stock and they're having a hard time getting any of the boxes in the store.

Played a few games of it on the weekend - its fast, its furious, and very fun. Plus, you don't need that many boats for a good sized flotilla (1000pts will probably require a 4 x 6 board, and thats either half a dozen boats, or a corvette/minelayer and a few boats). Navigation is a big issue for some - running off the board with the faster boats is a serious concern at times, it can be difficult to get a hit with your guns, and torpedoes require practice. It also needs a few extra washes to get a few more things right, and the book could do with a revision and streamlining - at least the errata helps in that respect.

Cool! Looking forward to hearing more about it. Post some pics when you can!

Seen a few boxes in a nearby games store ( Well, 1.5 hours drive, but to me and a lot of locals, that's nearby ), and they look like a lot of model for the prcie. But that's the big part - the Starter Set is a cent short of NZD100, and the other boxes price out at NZD130 each. Might not be a huge seller I suspect.

True, but the boxed sets are 1000pts each of boats alone (not including crew costs), and you don't need that much for many of scenarios. So you get one box, and its pretty much all you need.

What I find bizarre is the attempts many people seem to be making to put larger ships into the game. It just seems silly, if you want to play a game with destroyers and larger ships try a different rule set and scale.
Other than that I am quite excited about this and even my naval wargame hating brother is interested.

Looking really good! Mine are still sitting half-done on the painting table. I need to get busy on those, and this is good inspiration :).
