This event has completed; thank you everyone who came out and played.  Everyone had a good time; mission accomplished.

Results? Inquiring minds and all that ;-)

And how did you handle terrain? Full 25% coverage?

Adam won Best Admiral with over 1000 Victory points in three games... Mostly from Tabling the  directorate player with his Sorylians, and stealing the Carrier (double VP).  His  temporary ally, Mickey with Aquans,  more than pulled her weight as well that game, so they won best team.

Mike won the player-voted "running with the bulls" award for taking the most risks with his Ba'Kash.
J  won the player-voted call duct tape" award for having the most unkillable unit game after game...  Which I think is kind of funny, as I had no trouble killing his Hawker Industries fleet.

In order to facilitate gameplay, I had to field a 500 point RSN fleet along with a 500 point Dindrenzi fleet.  I never want to do that again, but at least I was consistent throughout the day, and no team really did better against me than anyone else.

As for terrain, providing true 25% coverage for 4 tables is not a problem for me, thanks to the terrain template system I've developed over the last year.  ~$20 provides enough to cover one table.  I would post a photo of an event table, but I was so busy rush-playing I never took any photos.  So instead, hear is a photo of the table set-up from my game with Ruckdog:

Very cool! And its been a while since I've seen Sorylians dominate an event.

I do have a set of template based terrain to use - having the clear borders works wonders.

We tend to dislike full 25% around here because:

1) Unrealistic

2) Overtly favors Torp Gunline factions, Grav weapons, etc.

3) Nobody likes losing because their super hi-tech spaceships are somehow slaved to a human's best guesstimate on movement. Its seems more natural in X-Wing to run into an asteroid; but when a capital ship does it by accident, its downright silly.

Agreed Dale. I'm always surprised when I actually see the full 25% coverage. It's impressive how much of the table is covered like in the picture above.
I'm a "slap 3 or 4 clumps of asteroids down" kind of guy.

I think I tend to come down on the side of more terrain myself, though I'll happily play a game on a more open table.
