What's the consolidated plan?  Should I bring my Martians and what's the start time?  I probably have to leave no later than 4pm.

For the Spartan day on the 17th, would anyone be interested in fighting some DW against the Martians?  I can't stay into the evening, so a full-on mega-battle would be hard, but we could probably do a table of me against 2-3K of combined arms.

Thanks for putting this on Dale!

I'm a fan of the NX-01.  Maybe it's just that it was the underdog in pretty much every battle Archer ever got them into, or maybe it's because the NX-01 is a transition ship that doesn't have the shiny, everything's perfect feel of the newer ships.

I'm partway through listening to Ep 10.  Great job as always.  I'd be happy to chat a bit about Star Trek Online (STO).  For the 50th Anniversary, they've made this summer's big expansion Agents of Yesterday, which is a setting for new characters to begin play during the timeframe of ToS, the 23rd Century.  I've been taking a break this summer, but will jump back in to check out the new expansion.

You can check out some details here:

So, how's everyone liking the game?  I've been working through the campaign and it definitely starts to give a feeling of being overwhelmed since you lose planets faster than you can recover them.  I also just discovered the graphics changes that occur when you put a Favor onto one of your ships.  I put the mechanicum favor on a cruiser and now it's red with a big mechanicus symbol on the front.  I can't wait to see what happens when I put an Inquisition Favor on one of the ships.

Actually, I think the Sorylians are the origin of most of the races' FTL capability.  The Sorylians set jump gates everywhere (like in B5) and that's how human exploration got started.  The original fluff mentions humans getting shield technology from the "Saurians", who we later found out were a break-away faction of the Sorylians.  I believe this same contact is what introduced humans to jump gate technology.  The Aquans began exploring at STL speeds in generation ships.  Eventually, I don't remember how, a the actual jump drive was developed which made the jump gates unnecessary and really kicked off the wave of exploration and settlement which ended with the Dindrenzi breaking away.

I'm out the weekends of the 11th and 18th.  I can do something the 4th, and if anyone wants to get together on May 28th I'm free then too.

I was thinking along those same lines for the water table Dale.  Then the big ships could provide Indirect Fire support to the land table and the heavies on the land table could do the same back at them.  The game turns won't be linked, so from each tables perspective the incoming fire would be random.

For a 2 on 2 game, I'd recommend 800 points. This will be a naval engagement, correct?

Naval 800pts works for me.

Back to Tacticon,

I'll volunteer to run the land battle and help with the themes for both DW events.

For the land battle, what would you think of a scenario set in Giza, Egypt.  The Nile runs relatively close by and I could take some liberties with the actual distance between the river and the pyramid complex.  In scale, the great pyramid would be approx. 5" tall and 7.5" to a side on the base.  The pyramid of Khafre would be about half an inch smaller in each dimension and the pyramid of Menkaure would only be about 2" tall by 3" at the base.  At the scale the sphinx is pretty small, only about an inch high and wide by 2 inches long.  The haven already has a couple tan mats though I'd probably look for a nicer sand mat of some kind (maybe make one with a roll vinyl, spray glue, and a lot of sand).

The Chinese dragon robot isn't in the same class as the Hochmeister and the other big robots released recently. The Chinese robot is a large-class, whereas the others are basically robot dreadnoughts. You guys would make mincemeat out of The Dragon in short order. I've discovered that it really only does well against medium and small ship (when it survives long enough to engage--it's quite a fire magnet).

Damned right it's not in the same class as the Hochmeister!
