Title: Firestorm Fluff (D6G Lost Chapter 91)
Post by: Ruckdog on February 28, 2015, 08:08:14 pm
The D6G recently interviewed Spartan Neil and discussed the background of the Firestorm Universe and SG's plans for this year. The interview itself is behind a pay wall, but here are the key points:

-There is a major push underway to upgrade all minor factions in the game to Patrol Fleet levels, to include releasing a box set for each one. So,more example, if a fleet only had on or two model types before, it will be fleshed out to 3-4 so that you can have a "pure" faction fleet for that race.

-There will be new (or, at least, newly playable) factions released as part of this effort, including the Saurians. Also mentioned were the Pathogen and the Overseers.

-Spartan will be releasing downloadable documents that will cover specifics on tech and organizations from the universe. Specifically mentioned was a document describing how fold space drives work. The goal of these documents is to help players flesh out the setting with technological limitations.

-There will be a range of materials coming out that will support campaigns in Firestorm. This will include a high-res map of the Galaxy, campaign notes, and possibly a set of rules.

Interesting stuff!

All sounds very interesting. I think we're seeing some of this already with the release of the RSN patrol fleet box and the upcoming Firestorm Armada player campaign:

So Ruckdog, was this interview one of the "lost chapters"?

They had Spartan Neil on the regular D6G episode as well, and he mentioned a lot of that too.

During the "Achievements in Gaming" segment though, Neil stated he hated every last minute of INTERSTELLAR. Now I have to reconsider playing Spartan games... ;-) ;D :-)
